The LGBTI world is talking about a groom who sued his lesbian bride in Taiwan, the latest sports star to come out and RuPaul’s wedding

A very unfortunate wedding and the court case that followed it has raised support for same-sex marriage equality in Taiwan. Meanwhile a pro-wrestler has come out and RuPaul has revealed he got married to his partner of 23 years in January.

This lesbian must be the most unlucky bride in Taiwan

Can you imagine what it would be like to be pressured into marrying someone against your will?

That’s what happened to a lesbian in Taiwan.

The woman, known only as Hsu, was pressured into dating a man to please her mother. She even had to split up with her girlfriend, breaking her heart.

But it got even worse when she married him. On their wedding night, she realized she couldn’t go through with it and left him.

The groom’s response was to sue her for Tw$500,000 (around £13,300). The bill was for wedding fees, ‘betrothal money’ and his emotional pain. And the court ordered her to pay out.

Taiwan is moving towards same-sex marriage and the case has increased public support for that.

Do you know anyone who has been forced into a marriage? Have you ever got into a relationship to keep someone else happy? I’d be interested to hear your stories.

Pro-wrestler comes out and the photos of him and his boyfriend are so cute

There are far too few openly LGBTI sports people out there.

But perhaps the many who are still in the closet can take hear from the coming out story of professional wrestler Anthony Bowens.

Sure the 26-year-old was nervous when he and his boyfriend Michael Pavan made a YouTube video together, outing him.

But one of his wrestling mates spotted it and said he didn’t care and that Anthony was one of his best friends.

And when he came out on Facebook, he expected a backlash but was met with an outpouring of support.

If you want to be cheered up today, head over to GSN to see the pictures of Anthony and Michael together. They are adorable.

And if you are wanting to come out then be safe, do it when it’s right for you and remember there are lots of happy endings out there.

RuPaul has married his rancher partner of 23 years

Congratulations to RuPaul and his long-term partner Georges LeBar!

The Drag Race host revealed this week that the pair had got married in January.

It’s no surprise they didn’t make a fuss. While RuPaul is drag’s biggest global mega-star, he said Georges doesn’t care about showbiz and prefers to spend his time on the ranch in Wyoming.

What I loved about this story is the fact they have been together for 23 years.

People used to joke that gay couples don’t stay together and that a month of a gay relationship is like a year of a straight one.

But since marriage equality has come along, all these long-term same-sex couples have come out of the woodwork.

Have you been in a long-term relationship? And what do you do to make one last? Share your stories. And meanwhile, congratulations to Ru and Georges.
