"I wrote a letter to my dad telling him I was a bisexual transvestite. I wasn’t either bisexual or a transvestite, I was gay but somehow this made it easier."

Can you tell us about yourself, what you do, and what you will be doing on Blued?

We are Jamie Jamal & Mister-Minchie, an electronic duo from Bristol UK called This Human Condition. We Blend many different styles of electronic music including, House, Trance, Dance, Synth Pop, Trip Hop, Dub Step and Balearic Downtempo. We describe our genre as “Electronic handbag Punk” We have been described as early Depeche Mode meets a darker Erasure and The Prodigy meets Boy George.  We signed to a label in New York called ‘Teknofonic’ and  have released an EP (Rise) and LP (Project Zero) in 2016. Our track Rise has been played on BBC6Music by Tom Robinson. This year we performed at Glastonbury Festival. Our last single ‘Breaking The Code” is a song about enigma codebreaker Alan Turing. We’re currently working on a new EP called ‘Transcentury’ hopefully will be out in september 2017.

We will be hosting our first Live show on Thursday at 7pm, London time starting on August 3rd 2017. In this 30 minutes session we will be singing songs form our LP & EP plus some cover songs and testing out new songs. Expect some banter and live Q&A. We may also review some new music we like. We’d love your input, so if there’s a question you want us to answer in the Live session, do let us know!

Can you tell us about your coming out?

Jamie: I wrote a letter to my dad telling him I was a bisexual transvestite. I wasn’t either bisexual or a transvestite, I was gay but somehow this made it easier. I thought he would reject me anyway so i may as well get some drama out of it. In fairness he wrote back a lovely letter saying he had had his suspicions. My mother asked me if i was gay while we were driving on the motorway. It took me a while to be comfortable with saying i am gay.

Mister Minchie: My sister found a gay times in my bedroom, I thought she would tell my parents so I came out before she could.

If it had not been doing music, what would you have liked to do?

Jamie: Astronaut.

Mister Minchie: Politician.

Have you ever felt judged/discriminated against by your peers within the gay community?

Yes. We feel judged every time we walk on stage, especially at gay events. As for discriminated against, we don’t feel that we have been, No,

Finally, can you tell us something you have never told anybody else?

Jamie: Yes, but then i’d have to kill you.

Mister Minchie: Boy George was our first follower on twitter.
